Traditional Southern Five Animal Hung Gar Gung Fu

Traditional Chinese Martial Arts are primarily for self-cultivation, health, wellness, and the overall positive conditioning of the practitioner. Effective self- defense skills are one of the natural extensions of proper training in Gung Fu. Therefore, teachers should look for students that will respect the art and take the proper time necessary to learn and preserve it carefully. There are far too many martial art schools that have lost touch with their roots and simply teach students how to fight and be as violent as possible. Our Academy aims to help recover the positive roots of traditional Chinese Martial Arts by providing a safe and warm spirited environment for students to grow.

The Hung Gar System is based on Tiger movements in the early stages of study. Stance training plus several arm and leg conditioning exercises are what new students can look forward to. The system is also known as the "Hung Kuen 5 Animal Style" in many parts of the world. Legend has it that the Hung Gar system may well be the guardian of the original Shao Lin 5 Animal styles that migrated from Northern to Southern China. Within Hung Gar circles there is a saying; "Hard as Iron, Soft as Thread", which speaks to the essence of Hung Gar Kung Fu since it combines both external and internal training within its curriculum.
